COCOONS
My cocoon pieces represent emotional states, often of a painful kind.
The coccons are intentionally complex and intensely worked forms that seem to be halfway between nests and armor. Made of layers of paper and textile, reinforced with iron discs, they present a large number of stitches; the paper used recalls past memories and experiences. The seriality and repetition of stitching as a means of making sense of something and finding stability and calm.
